In nine stages "Ginseng" draws a highly energizing line oscillating between noise, rock and jazz. Gillicit's both powerful and mysteriou couleur s music is impregnated with the rasping sound of the brass instruments and the new beat accents of the rhythmics. This work expresses the quintet's research in the field of groove, improvisation, textures in brass and arrangement, research which has been led for the past two years both in concert and in studio. For this CD significant work on production and mixing has been realized in the studio in order to give the music its maximum clarity and legibility. With "Ginseng" Gillicit claims a powerful and original sound which shows the band's "cry" aesthetics to advantage.
